In the last few months, the awareness of air quality that we breathed is increasing. People are concern about the air they breathed is contain a lot of pollutants that are not good for our health. 

The outdoor air quality is uncontrollable and it depends on how many people were using vehicles in a day or natural disasters such as forest fires or eruption can influence the level of air pollution. 

All we can do to minimize the exposure of air pollution is using mask whenever we go out of building. Sadly, did you know that the air pollution is not only occur in outdoor but also indoor? Yes, this hard truth about indoor air pollution is barely known to public. 

In fact, according to the EPA, however, the levels of indoor air pollutants are often 2 to 5 times higher than outdoor levels, and in some cases these levels can exceed 100 times that of outdoor levels of the same pollutants. 

Then, how can we do to experience cleaner air? Can’t we do something to make our indoor air quality better than the outdoor? 

Yes, there are few tips that can help you to improve your indoor air quality, here’s how: 

  1. Clean your room regularly 
    Cleaning your house or office regularly can reduce the number of pollutants in your room. 
    Try to vacuum your carpets, rugs twice a month is great to cut-down allergens in house, and if you have allergens, it would be best to clean your bedding, drapes, and other items that attract allergens. 
     
  1. Change filter regularly 
    If you have air conditioner or any air heating system, we recommend you to change the filter regularly. The function of filter in the air heating systems is to trapping and absorbing the dust and other airborne irritants. You won’t let that dust recirculate in your room isn’t? 
     
  1. Let the fresh air in 
    Opening your window every morning to recirculate the indoor air and allowing fresher air to move into the house. 
     
  1. Improve kitchen ventilation 
    Cooking can produce smoke, odour, and particulates, plus the gas stove can release high levels of pollutants and polluting the room that will makes us feel stuffy and cough. Which is why, by installing the kitchen vents or opening your window while cooking can reduce the levels of particulates in the room. 
     
  1. Invest in indoor plants 
    Having indoor plants or indoor garden is great to have a greenery scenery. Natural elements can boost your mood and energy, and more importantly by investing indoor plants such as orchids, aloe vera, and Dracaena trifasciata can releasing oxygen that can improve your indoor air quality.
